Back to Business with Linda Waters

Linda Waters has been to the Hopkinton Networking Group several times and recently sat down for an interview with #shopFranklin.

"#shopFranklin - supporting small business speaks with Linda Waters of Back to Business. Back to Business has changed the dialogue around re-entering the work force after an absence and empowers job seekers to own their many talents."

This video is especially good for anyone looking for work or considering changing careers. Linda is a great resource. I have been fortunate to have her as part of a couple of the Job Search Jam Sessions I ran a several years ago and her sessions were dynamite!

Time to Crtl-Alt-Delete Your Life

During the last practice interview question session, I found five new homes for some good books to read. One of them was Crtl-Alt-Delete Your Life by Mitch Joel. I just finished reading the book via Audible and had posted this recently on my own webpage. It is worth re-posting here.

During the course of this wonderful conversation, Match says:
"I don't get a world where people go to the gym everyday to fine tune their body and spend zero time on anything that happens above the neck."
That shows the passion for life long learning that drives Mitch. Any reader here should recognize I share that life long learning passion as well.

There are so many points to take off on this conversation between Jonathan Fields and Mitch Joel, I probably could do a series of posts to cover a month. However, it is not my takeaway that matters. It is up to you to do something. Start by spending about 45 minutes with Jonathan and Mitch here.

Be like a kindergartener!

What kindergarteners do differently, is that they start with the marshmallow, and they build prototypes, successive prototypes, always keeping the marshmallow on top, so they have multiple times to fix ill built prototypes along the way. So designers recognize this type of collaboration as the essence of the iterative process. And with each version, kids get instant feedback about what works and what doesn't work.
You can view the complete TED Talk here (about 7 minutes).

Be like a kindergartener, come to the Job Search Jam Sessions on May 14th.

Mix and mingle with other job searchers.

Share and learn with each other.

Expand your network.

The next connection you make may be the one to land that dream position!
